Saint-André-de-Cubzac is located in Gironde, Aquitaine, only 26km from Bordeaux in south western France, so it’s not really surprising that many of the things to do in Saint-André-de-Cubzac involve wine! Saint-André-de-Cubzac really is a wine lovers paradise, with many tours and tastings to sample . . .

Saint-André-de-Cubzac is pretty much a sleepy little town, home to around 9,000 residents at the last count, but does have another claim to fame which has nothing to do with the wine . . . their most famous resident Jacques-Yves Cousteau was born here, and is buried in the Cousteau family plot.

Stuff to Do In And Around Saint-André-de-Cubzac

Wine tours – as I’ve already mentioned, wine plays a very large part in Saint-André-de-Cubzac, with lots of different wine tours to sample.

Wine making – as well as sampling a drop of vino, you are also welcome to blend wine to your own taste and design your own individual label. You can learn how a wine estate actually works and take home your very own bottle of individually blended and designed wine.

Wine tasting schools – hmm, I don’t remember any classes like that when I was at school. You can book for an intensive three day wine tasting course and learn all about wine tasting, great for beginners and intermediate wine tasters.

Bordeaux Trips – trips to Bordeaux are very popular, in fact, they are a “must do” when you’re so close to Bordeaux, the capital of the region. There you can enjoy a ride on the Garonne river, sit along the waterfront or simply enjoy the peaceful ambience of the beautiful, historic buildings.

Other Things To Do In And Around Saint-André-de-Cubzac

Beautiful Gardens – can be found all around this beautiful part of the world, Jardin du Fond de l’or is truly remarkable and only 9 km from Saint-André-de-Cubzac, around 15 km away is the wonderful Jardins du château de Vayres, and Parc du château Lanessan is within 26 km of Saint-André-de-Cubzac.

I know it’s in French, because it’s in France . . . isn’t it wonderful! C’est magnifique!

National Monuments – the fantastic Cave Pair-non-Pair is only 7 km away, and Pey-Berland Tower only 20 km. A little further afield is the brilliant Cadillac Chateau (41 km) as well as many more national monuments.

So you see, a visit to Saint-André-de-Cubzac in the heart of real wine country is fantastic, whether you love wine or not when you arrive, you’re certain to be converted during your trip . . . bonne santé!
