Visitors to Philadelphia get much more out of their vacation if they take just a little time to plan their trip (before they get there). Things To Do In Philadelphia
- Take a Tour of Philadelphia – discerning travellers know that the best way to get a feeling for a new city is to take a tour, and that’s a great idea when you first land in Philadelphia. Tours take you on a whistle stop trip of the best bits, so you can decide which parts of the city deserve a little more attention later on in your vacation. There are some great tours in Philadelphia – walking tours, bus tours, horse and carriage tours, trolley tours . . . so however you like to tour, the choice is yours.

- Visit the Liberty Bell – you can’t really visit Philadelphia without visiting the The Liberty Cell Center, especially if you manage to time your visit for the Fourth of July.
- Visit the American Philosophical Society Museum – another “must do” on your Philadelphia list . . . . there’s the handwritten copy of the Declaration of Independence here, as well as many other important documents which shaped the history of the USA.
- Visit the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul – self guided tours are free of charge around this, the largest Catholic church in the whole of Pennsylvania – well worth a visit.
Told you it’s awesome, and it’s so big you literally can’t miss it!
- Visit the Philadelphia Zoo – America’s first zoo, jam packed with exhibits and animals from all corners of the world. This place is full of “firsts” – the first chimp and orangutan births in a zoo in the US (1928), the first exhibit of white lions in the US (1993), in fact, The Philadelphia Zoo was the first childrens zoo in the world . . . if it’s not first on your list of places to visit in Philadelphia, make sure that it’s pretty close to the top of the list.
- Visit the Adventure Aquarium – enter this great underwater adventure, walk the shark tunnel if you dare and witness the amazing power of Hammerhead Sharks, they even have a couple of hippos. Don’t forget to look in on Penguin Island while you’re there. There really is loads to see and do when you visit the Adventure Aquarium in Philadelphia.
- Shop Till You Drop in Philadelphia – and why not, it is tax free. Philadelphia has a wonderful eclectic mix of shopping districts as well as many of the large retail chains . . . don’t forget to take a big shopping bag with you. Whether you’re a “classic chic” chick or are always on the look out for an antique bargain, Philadelphia is shopping heaven not to be missed.
- Outdoor Fun in Philadelphia – Philadelphia also has lots of outdoor fun to enjoy. Choose from golf, helicopter rides, horseback riding, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, hiking, ballon rides and much more.
